THE COMPANY CORPS AU BORD | NATACHA PAQUIGNON
Natacha Paquignon is a dancer, choreographer, and artistic director of the Corps Au Bord company. Her creations take the form of performances, journeys, and installations where movement, immersive and interactive devices, and artificial intelligence intertwine.
What relationships do technologies forge with our bodies? How does the sensitive presence of human beings influence or subvert digital mechanisms? This dual perspective questions the notion of otherness: the construction of our identities, the coercive power of technologies, the embrace of glitches and the unexpected, the alienation or emancipation.
Her works are rooted in in-situ environments and invite audiences to become actors in their own experience. The choreographies, inspired by Chinese martial arts—qi gong and taiji quan—combine fluidity and intuition, while embracing an analytical approach where vectorized gesture becomes a metaphor for the relationships between humans and technologies. The reappropriation of digital tools is one of the cornerstones of the creative process. It unfolds through the development of applications or the repurposing of devices like the smartphone.
Founded in 2007 and based in Lyon, the company has presented some thirty works in venues dedicated to digital arts, dance, and live performance, as well as in art centers and public spaces. Its projects are part of a research-creation process conducted in collaboration with the universities of Grenoble, Lyon, and the Sorbonne.
